What belongs in
your manufacturing brief?

An OEM brief turns a product idea or existing specification into a defined manufacturing request. Start with the model or reference sample, then discuss the materials, size mix, performance criteria, pack design and order quantities.

For a repeat-order programme, include the demand by SKU and the shipment plan you want to review. Agree the approved construction and packaging versions before treating different batches as the same product.

OEM: work from
your specification.

Bring the product design or existing specification, material requirements, packaging artwork and the sizes you intend to supply.

Review the sample, product construction and order requirements before approving production.

ODM: develop
the product brief.

Describe the product format, intended market and requirements your team wants to resolve. Discuss the available structure, material and packaging choices.

Agree the development scope, sample review and responsibilities before manufacturing begins.

How does a private label
project move forward?

A useful sequence connects your requirements with the sample, specification and production order.

  1. Define the range

Identify the product formats, size assortment, market and sales channel. Add a reference sample or specification where available.

  2. Confirm the construction

Review dimensions, materials, core or lotion, fastening or closure and the options available for each model.

  3. Evaluate the sample

Agree the assessment criteria and review a sample that represents the intended construction. Record any requested change.

  4. Approve the pack

Confirm artwork, label language, supported claims, pack count and carton configuration with the product specification.

  5. Agree the order plan

Confirm quantities by SKU, the quotation, relevant documents and the proposed production and shipment schedule.

OEM & ODM questions

Review product development, sample evaluation and packaging together when planning your project.

Can I start from an existing DiaperOrigin construction?

Yes. Choose a product model and identify the size, material and pack requirements for your brand. Confirm the available customization and sample with the quotation.

Can different pack designs use the same product specification?

They can be discussed separately. List each artwork and pack-count version alongside the same product reference so quantities and packaging requirements are clear.

How do I manage a change after approving the sample?

Identify the requested change and update the agreed specification or artwork revision before production. Confirm whether another sample or assessment is needed for that change.

Is there a universal minimum order quantity for OEM projects?

No single quantity is stated for the whole range. The model, size assortment and packaging versions affect the proposal. Send your planned quantities for a project-specific quotation.

How do you keep a private label project clearly defined?

A private label hygiene project involves the product and its branded pack. Record product decisions and artwork decisions separately, then bring them together in the order specification. This makes sample feedback and quotation comparisons easier for brand and procurement teams.

Separate required details from preferences

Mark which dimensions, construction features and materials must match your reference, and where alternatives may be considered. For ODM, explain the product problem your team wants to resolve. This defines the discussion without assuming every requested option is already available.

Give sample feedback a clear reference

Identify the sample model, size and version before recording observations. Separate fit and material comments from packaging comments, and state the assessment conditions where relevant. If a core, lotion, seam or closure changes, confirm what needs another review before treating the revised sample as approved.

Close the product and pack decisions together

Confirm the specification revision, artwork version, pieces per pack and carton arrangement for each SKU. Review the proposed quantities and schedule against that combination. A product approval alone does not approve a new packaging claim, a different size mix or an unreviewed material substitution.

How should I compare two OEM quotations?

Compare the named model, sizes, materials, assessment requirements and packaging covered by each proposal. List any differences before comparing unit prices. Also confirm which sample, artwork and order quantities the quotation refers to so the offers describe comparable supply.

What happens if the artwork changes after sample approval?

Identify the new artwork version and any changed wording, pack count or product information. Review whether that change affects the product specification or order proposal, then confirm the revised records before production. Avoid leaving two different versions described simply as final.
